Leland and his son Wilfried in the USA in 1917. Initially, only aircraft engines were built. After World War I, preparations were made for the production of luxury automobiles. The first Lincoln was launched in 1920. For financial reasons, Leland sold the Lincoln factory to the Ford Motor Company. For Ford, this marked Ford's entry into the luxury car segment. These premium automobiles have, in some cases, brought Ford more prestige than profit. The 1960 Lincoln Mark V Convertible, with its overall length of almost 5.8 meters, was probably the largest American passenger car ever produced. Despite this impressive size, the body was constructed as a unit, and from this model year onward, a rigid axle with leaf springs was used instead of a semi-trailing arm rear axle. At the same time, the power of the V8 engine was reduced to 315 hp to improve fuel consumption. The luxurious, extensive equipment includes push-button power windows, power-adjustable seats, and a convertible top. Power-assisted steering and a "Twin Range Turbo-Drive" automatic transmission were also included. These luxurious, massive, two-door convertibles or coupes earned Lincoln a premium ranking in the "Personal Luxury Cars" category. This vehicle is a classic car that is many years old, with some noticeable signs of use and wear. Furthermore, it may have undergone more or less professional restoration, modification, and paintwork, and may have a number of cosmetic and technical defects. __________________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE: For this vehicle, the surcharge totals 10% of the hammer price.
