Overheating of the high-voltage battery in AUDI A6, A7 and Q5 models from model years 2021 to 2023 There is therefore a recall for the affected vehicles under the code 93AB, which is being monitored by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). As the authority published in its recall database on 28 January 2025, AUDI A6, A7 and Q5 models from model years 2021 to 2023 may be affected by the recall. Description: During the charging process, the high-voltage battery may overheat due to a defect in the battery modules. This can lead to a fire and cause injury to occupants and bystanders. Possible restrictions on the affected vehicle versions: TFSIe (plug-in hybrid). Known incidents involving property damage and/or personal injury at the time of publication: Not known. Remedial measures taken by the manufacturer: For vehicles that are not subject to online monitoring and for vehicles that show abnormalities in online monitoring, onboard diagnostic software will be installed if available and, if necessary, the high-voltage battery or individual battery modules will be replaced. Recommendation: No external charging of the high-voltage batteries may be carried out on the affected vehicles with immediate effect. In addition, the e-tron modes ‘Battery Charge’ and ‘Battery hold’ should no longer be used until further notice, i.e. no charging or power storage functions while driving.
