General info
PLEASE NOTE: The premium for this vehicle is 5% of the hammer price. Exclusive racing version with all-aluminum XK racing engine (Semi-lightweight SLW). This E-Type Roadster was delivered to the German importer Peter Lindner in May 1962. It is a historic conversion, resulting in a super-lightweight and very fast racing car. The car is listed as an SLW with an aluminum body in what is presumably the first car passport, issued in France in 1988. The cabin and underbody are made of steel as standard, and the entire exterior, including the outer sills, is made of aluminum. The vehicle was extensively restored in 1986-87. A comprehensive technical update was carried out between 2019 and 2021. This included replacing and modifying the engine, transmission, rear axle differential, steering, and chassis. The engine used was one of the very rare and, above all, expensive (approx. €100,000) all-aluminum units from Crosthwaite and Gardiner. These engines, manufactured under license by Jaguar, are historically accurate and were also used in the original Jaguar Continuous models from 2014 onwards; they have since been homologated. In this vehicle, this 3.8-liter engine with a wide-angel cylinder head does not produce the 344 hp listed by Jaguar, but rather a measured 360 hp. This makes this engine likely one of the world's most powerful 3.8-liter XK engines. The vehicle is presented here as a pure racing car. All unnecessary comfort features were sacrificed in the pursuit of the lowest possible weight. The Jaguar has competed in various races, including in England, Belgium, Portugal, and Germany. The Jaguar was registered for German road use until 2023 and, with some modifications, could be re-registered for road use. An FIA vehicle passport can be reapplied for. This vehicle is a classic car that is many years old, with some noticeable signs of use and wear. Furthermore, it may have undergone more or less professional restoration, modification, and paintwork, and may have a number of cosmetic and technical defects.
