General info
Imported from the USA with German papers H-registration is available PLEASE NOTE: The premium for this vehicle is 5% of the hammer price. . Ford introduced the Mercury brand in 1939 to close the gap between the regular models offered under its own name and the significantly more expensive Lincoln luxury vehicles. Until the name was discontinued in 2011, it belonged to the Lincoln-Mercury division. The Monterey was a luxury vehicle first introduced in 1952 and built in seven generations until 1974. Four-door sedans, as well as two-door hardtop coupes and convertibles, were available in all generations, but station wagons and four-door hardtops were not consistently part of the lineup. To save costs, the Monterey usually shared its platform with vehicles from other brands, such as Lincoln, Edsel, or Ford. All Montereys—with the exception of the 5th generation, which was also available as a 6-cylinder—featured V8 engines with displacements ranging from 4.2 liters to later 7.5 liters. In 1958, the Super Marauder was launched, making Mercury the first American production manufacturer to offer a 400 hp engine. This emphasized the claim that driving the 'big M' (1950s advertising slogan) was something special. This vehicle is a classic car, many years old, with some noticeable signs of use and wear. Furthermore, it may have undergone more or less professional restoration, modification, and paintwork, and may have a number of cosmetic and technical defects. __________________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE: for this vehicle the surcharge totals 10% of the hammer price. Ford had introduced the Mercury make in 1939 to bridge the gap between their own-branded regular models and the much more expensive Lincoln luxury vehicles. Until its discontinuation in 2011, it was part of the Lincoln-Mercury division. The Monterey was a full-size car first presented in 1952 and built over seven generations until 1974. All generations offered 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop coupe and convertible variants, while station wagons and 4-door hardtops were not continuously available. To reduce costs, Montereys usually shared a platform with vehicles of the other makes, either with Lincoln, Edsel, or Ford. All Montereys - with the exception of fthe 5th generation, which also had a 6-cylinder option - came with V8 engines with capacities ranging from 4.2 liters in the earlier models to 7.5 liters later on. In 1958, the Super Marauder became available, making Mercury the first American production car manufacturer to offer engines with a power output of 400 hp, and substantiating the claim that it is something special to Drive the 'Big M' (1950s advertising). This vehicle is a vintage model, which is many years old, with some obvious traces of use and wear. In addition, some restorative, refurbishment and painting work may have been carried out more or less professionally and there may be a large number of optical and technical defects.
