In March 1964, the Sprite Mk III (HAN8) and the Midget Mk II (GAN3) were released. They had completely modified doors with crank windows, vent windows, and now externally mounted door handles. The doors could now also be locked. The windshield was more curved and had a new frame and a center bar to which a height-adjustable rearview mirror was attached. A different steering wheel with three double-spring spokes and a completely new dashboard were installed. The convertible top had been redesigned and now featured a front bow that allowed the convertible top to be locked to the windshield frame with two latches. Displacement remained at 1,098 cc, but the engine (prefix 10CC) featured a stiffer crankshaft with larger main bearings and a new cylinder head with larger valves. Combined with the modified exhaust manifold and the enlarged cross-section of the exhaust system, this resulted in an increase in power to 59 bhp/60 PS/44 kW at 5,750 rpm. An electric SU pump was now used instead of the previous mechanical fuel pump. The quarter-elliptic leaf springs were replaced by semi-elliptic springs, which required corresponding modifications to the rear axle and leaf spring mounts. A total of 52,506 Sprite Mk III and Midget Mk II vehicles were produced by September 1966.
